This month, we take a few minutes with Kate Dawes of Kate Dawes Flower Design, a very talented florist and absolutely lovely lady to boot!

1. What does a typical day in the life of Kate Dawes involve?
Up early with the birds and the flowers, crazy, emails, quotes, coffee, family, making flowers and planning.

2. What or who inspires your work?
Fashion, clothes, interiors and nature. The flowers themselves talk... their colours, shapes and texture, the situation and location, keeping an open mind to what others suggest, always learning…

3. What are your favourite flowers in each season?
I like all flowers actually - I guess the ranunculus are pretty special to me... and lilac

4. What is the one tip you would give to brides looking for a florist?
Choose the florist you 'click' with… the one on your side!

5. Lastly, our featured wedding invite design, 'Hearts-a-Flutter', is playful, fun and non-traditional. What would you use to put together a bouquet based on this theme?
I would design a loose-look bouquet with foliage between the flowers… David Austin roses, ranunculus, sweet peas, spray roses, jasmine and dusty miller foliage, tied with lovely big bow!

Caught My Eye

Hello there lovelies! Hope you had the most fabulous of weekends!

I think it's fairly safe to say that I have Pinterest addiction. I can lose a good couple of hours at a time pinning all sorts of things from wedding ideas, colour palettes, craft projects and the list goes on... and on. If you're not on Pinterest yet, you really need to go and see for yourself what the fuss is all about. Having said all of this, Pinterest also has its pitfalls, because it's way too easy to access pretty little outfits, shoes and the like - with one simple click I'm taken straight to the product's website and I'm entering my details and reaching for my credit card. Eeep! At the moment I'm all about bright block colours, so it's no surprise that I immediately fell in love with this...

Actually, I think the overall look is kind of amazing, no?

Be Inspired :: For the Love of Colour!

Welcome to another new feature post on the blog - colour inspiration! Some of the best ways to find interesting colour palettes is to start a scrapbook (or use my fave, Pinterest) to save images you are drawn to and sample shades from within those images. Using the image below, I've assembled a colour palette of swatches from our colour chart, 'rich red,' 'moss,' 'frappe,' and 'sunshine orange'. Such a beautifully festive feel, don't you think?

Be Inspired :: Words to Live By

Do more of what makes you happy - kinda simple isn't it? Actively pursuing things that make us happy gives us something to look forward to, goals and purpose. By making a conscious effort to remind ourselves how grateful we are for what we have, rather than focusing on the stuff that weighs us down, life ultimately becomes more fulfilling.

So what's making you happy this week? For me, a highlight was catching up (albeit over skype) with my sister. She's calling London-town home for the next 9 months and having not been able to speak to her (except over emails and facebook that is!) since the beginning of December, it's was so lovely to hear all about her overseas ~~shenanigans~~ adventures.

Given this is my first real blog post for the year (eeeeek!) let me start by saying a huge belated happy new year to you all and I hope that your start to two-o-twelve has been nothing short of amazing! It's already been a pretty eventful month - we've said goodbye to six of our pretty little invitation and stationery designs (our designs are limited edish after all!) and announced the lucky winners of our giveaway that we ran at the tail end of last year. Congratulations once again to the super lovely Jess + Ben and thank you to all of the entrants. I can now reveal another little project that I've been working on with the lovely Jane of Emerald + Ella. Real Wedding :: Nat + Dan

Introducing Nat + Dan, married in September last year. From the moment Nat contacted me to discuss their wedding, I was thrilled to be working with them. Nat positively glowed when sharing details of their wedding plans - such a sweet, polite and happy couple!

Nat + Dan :: Saturday 10 September 2011
Rosalie, Brisbane, Queensland

Nat and Dan met while studying law together at QUT in 2003 to 2006. They didn't become an couple until 2007, when they both undertook postgraduate studies to become admitted as solicitors. The proposal was "simple, yet meaningful," Nat explains, "Daniel isn't the type of person to propose in front of 100 people, or someone who would skydive out of a plane in a suit holding a ring. Instead, he took me to the Roma Street parklands which was where he took me on our first date in 2007 for a moonlight wine tasting tour. He seemed uneasy and I soon realised why when he unexpectedly pulled a magnificent diamond ring from his pocket. Both sets of parents knew in advance that Dan would be popping the question that weekend and were in Brisbane to celebrate."

Theme :: "Classical elegance."

Ceremony Location :: The couple were married by Father Frank O'Dea at Sacred Heart Church, Rosalie. "We are especially thankful to Father Frank who took the time to get to know us and tailored the ceremony to suit the two of us. He also married Dan's parents almost 30 years ago so it was special that he was able to marry us."

Reception Venue :: Brett's Wharf, Hamilton. "Juliette Buhot and the team at Bretts Wharf were very professional and organised and took the stress out of planning the reception. Being Alastair McLeod's restaurant, the food was exquisite too!"

Wedding Gown :: Nat looked stunning in a Alberta Ferretti silk organza gown, which a friend of hers purchased for her during a visit to Paris. "I knew that it would be to my taste – very feminine sleek fit which is classic Alberta Ferretti. With sheer silk chiffon sleeves and overlay, it is hand beaded with Swarovski crystals and pearls. I secretly hid it at the top of my closet in my old bedroom at my parents' home so that Daniel wouldn't find it. I also wore a vintage beaded and laced headpiece Jill bought from Paris and an ostrich feather bolero to keep warm during the evening." Nat's shoes were by Rodo, purchased from Maryon's Shoes in the Brisbane Arcade. Nat's bridesmaids were radiant in Lisa Ho grecian-style floor length gowns.

Groom's Attire :: The groom and groomsmen were very smart in chic black and white dinner suits, by Elio Moda, Brisbane, finished with black dress shoes.

Photographer :: Choosing a photographer was an easy decision for Nat and Dan - "Peter and Mary Lindley of Sheldonlea Studio have taken our family photos for years - they are almost a part of the family."

Florist:: Nat and Dan placed their trust in florist and stylist, Beth Webb from Divine Flowers and with good reason - her work is amazing. Nat says, "She arranged all of our bouquets, the boutonniere for the boys as well as coordinated the entire reception styling. She has a great eye for design and colour."

Other recommended suppliers :: Nat and Dan hired 3 x black Rolls Royces by Continental Wedding Limousines - "two mates who love their cars and team up on weekends to do weddings. They were lovely blokes!" Nat and Dan were also very impressed with their cake, a traditional fruit cake by Greg Clearly of Sweetums Designer Cakes based in Kenmore. "His website is amazing!"

Tips and advice for other brides :: "No matter how well you plan, something will go wrong. Don't worry about it; someone else will fix it. It is a big day so break it up into parts and enjoy each part before you move on to the next. Practice walking down the aisle with a friend. It will help you get used to it so that when it actually happens and the music is playing, you will be able to enjoy the moment and focus on the man at the end."

Most treasured moment of the day :: Aside from marrying the man of her dreams, Nat recalls, "During the ceremony, when I turned and locked eyes with the Best Man, he mouthed one word...wow. He is Dan's best friend and the three of us lived together before we were married so we have become friends too. During their speeches, both the Father of the Bride and Best Man quoted lines from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice as marriage advice. They both know me well." Natalie also decribes their first dance as another beautiful memory. "We danced a foxtrot to Green Eyes by Coldplay played live. This is relevant as on our third date Dan invited me over to his place for his specialty, pesto pasta. He had prepared a play list for the night and Green Eyes was the third track."

Creative/Personal Touches :: "On our gift table, we had individual photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day. This was a way of including our grandparents who are no longer with us and acknowledging our heritage." Additionally, the couple organised canapes for their bridal party at "Claret House Wine Bar in Teneriffe before heading out to Bretts Wharf, Hamilton for the reception. The old wool stores at Teneriffe provided an excellent backdrop for photos."

The Details

Stationery chosen :: The couple selected our 'A Little Luxe' design which was printed on our 'ice gold' metallic paper stock and by using our 'stone' colour swatch as an overlay on the stock, we were able to achieve a slightly deeper result. Paired with our 'deep plum' colour swatch, the result was beautifully rich. The couple decided against embellishing the stationery and preferred a more simplistic look. We really enjoyed working with them to create each and every piece and after seeing photos from their day, their wedding stationery could not have been any more fitting!

We designed double-sided folded invitations personalised with guest names & customised double sided rsvp, information and 'next day' cards (the couple had organised a lunch with their guests for the following day), along with two table seating charts, customised personalised placecards, favour tags, customised tri-fold table signage for the reception and order of service booklets for the ceremony. The couple decided against tent-folded placecards so we custom designed flat cards to sit upon the napkins. Nat and Dan wanted to use names of famous golf courses instead of numbers on their table signage, as Dan is a keen golfer, so we ran the names vertically. This allowed the text to remain at a size that would still be prominent from a distance, while maintaining an attractive design and making it easy for guests to locate their table. Additionally, we put together their order of service booklets from cover to finish, using black text on a white coated stock on the inside as a contrast to the strong colour on palette used the cover. Finally, we produced double-sided tent-folded thank you cards including an image from the day.

"We loved your 'A Little Luxe' collection and we chose it because the design is simple yet stylish. The emblem is sophisticated but the text is modern and the two together work well. I have received so many invitations over the years with buckles and ribbon that have fallen off or are crooked which looks a little tacky. With Love's designs are so modern yet classy and the paper and print job is of such a high quality. We received numerous comments about the quality and professionalism of the invitation suite and ceremony and reception pieces. Jackie, you have an incredible talent, an eye for design and were easy to deal with. We loved that you could adapt your design to suit our needs - I'm so glad I found you."

Real Wedding :: Kate + Adrian

We're a little bit behind on our Real Weddings posts of late so over the coming weeks, we're going to be sharing a whole lot more of our couples with you. Meet Kate + Adrian, married earlier this year. I'd like to preface this post by saying that it brings me great joy to share their wedding with you all. You can tell that these two really love each other and the day was all about the bond they share. Kate, who sadly lost her mother to pancreatic cancer in September 2009, made a number of heart-warming tributes to her mother to ensure she was part of the day. In a world of weddings that are so full 'details' for the sake of it, this wedding is very simple, yet absolutely full of heart.

Kate + Adrian :: Saturday 23 April 2011
Pokolbin, Hunter Valley Region, New South Wales

Kate and Adrian met in September, 2004, when Kate started working for Queensland Health as a Forensic DNA Scientist. Fast forward to the end of 2010 when the couple went on one of their regular picnics at their 'special' spot in Bulimba, Brisbane, Adrian proposed. Kate says, "I wasn't particularly surprised as I basically bullied him into it. He knows now that it was the best thing for him. ;)" Nice one Kate!

Theme :: "Non-traditional and relaxed." Kate and Adrian opted not have a bridal party, as they "don't agree on choosing your favourite friends and we wanted the day to just be about us." The couple opted for an unofficial wedding party who helped them get ready. Two of Kate's girlfriends also played special roles in the ceremony - one gave a reading and the other was their witness while signing the marriage certificate.

Ceremony Location :: Kate and Adrian were married by celebrant Megan West (based in the Hunter Valley), on Kate's family property in Pokolbin, NSW. Megan married one of Kate's friends a few years ago and also tap dances with that same friend, so the couple knew "she was a fun sort of a person." Kate's parents have owned the property for around 20 years. Kate says "there are no buildings on it, just a beautiful piece of land. We've always spent a bit of time in the Hunter Valley, mostly eating at all the delicious restaurants!" The couple chose to use the lyrics to Gorecki's song 'Lamb,' as a reading in their ceremony - "Gorecki doesn't really have any special meaning to us other than to sum up how we feel about each other just perfectly. Adrian said he'd never truly listened to the words until Isabel was reading them during the ceremony which then made him very emotional."

Reception Venue :: Bimbagen Estate, Pokolbin. "The perfect setting. Great food, great wine and great atmosphere."

Wedding Gown :: Kate found her dress very uncomfortable, albeit very beautiful, and had to change after the ceremony. "Thankfully, I had a white linen sundress packed for the honeymoon that I could change into - otherwise I would have been in jeans!" The bride also wore a necklace that inspired her colour choice for her stationery. Kate's late mother made a lot of jewellery and one of Kate's favourite pieces was a three strand bracelet. Kate says, "I knew I didn't want to wear a bracelet on the day so I made the necklace with beads from her collection. The frog that was dangling from the clasp was a charm that my mum wore around her neck everyday." Kate's shoes were also in a lovely shade of jade green to match.

Groom's Attire :: Adrian wore a very dashing Farage charcoal suit, from Elio Moda, Brisbane, finished with black dress shoes.

Photographer :: Kate and Adrian selected local Hunter Valley photographer, April Werz who shot both their engagement shoot and wedding day. Kate describes April as "gorgeous and so are her photos!" As you can see, April did an AMAZING job.

Florist :: Kate put together her bouquet of white freesias and reception floral arrangements herself and they were all the more special because of their meaning. "Adrian and I drove to the Sydney Flower Markets two days before the wedding and purchased a car load of white freesias. Freesias are special to me - my Mum and I used to pick them in the park every year."

Other recommended suppliers :: Tanya and Deena from Chic Artistry did Kate's makeup and hair, along with her unofficial bridesmaids and mother-in-law. "I would recommend them to anyone, they were just lovely." Simon from XYDJ is also highly recommended. "He was very accommodating and even played a Bon Jovi song even though it pained him to do so!"

Tips and advice for other brides :: "Relax! Don't let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't have. And don't worry about minor details - it's all about the love you have for your partner, not about which bomboniere is best. Oh, and see if you can sit down in your dress!"

Most treasured moment of the day :: "Other than marrying an amazing man, during our vows I had to stop and tell my girlfriends to keep it down - they were sobbing so loudly! Also, one of our friends does an invisible skipping rope dance which brought the house down at the reception."

Creative/Personal Touches :: "Rather than having our celebrant announce us as husband and wife, we had all of our guests yell it out. It was fantastic!" To keep the guests occupied after the ceremony, Kate and Adrian's guests played a spot of boules. Croquet was also organised but it was "far too complicated to learn once they'd had a few drinks!" The couple also ordered playing cards to be used at the reception for those who were not up for dancing however "the guests were having too good a time - the card games just didn't get a look in!" Thongs were supplied so that guests with uncomfortable footwear could slip into them. Kate says, "the thongs were a huge hit! Everybody had a pair on by the end of the night."

Kate and Adrian are avid supporters of the Avner Nahmani Pancreatic Cancer Foundation after Kate lost her mother to the disease. The couple decided to make a donation on their guests behalf, instead of giving favours. "We didn't want bomboniere because we didn't think that spending money on something nobody really wants was money well spent. Pancreatic cancer research is something that we're very passionate about given mum passed away from it. We not only wanted to contribute financially, we wanted to educate people and make sure that if our guests were only going to donate to one charity this year, it would that one." On the third panel of Kate and Adrian's tri-fold table signage, we printed a short message to Kate and Adrian's guests giving thanks for their donation and a little bit about the fund.

The Details
Stationery chosen :: The couple chose our 'We Do' design to use as the basis of their stationery suite, in which design elements and typefaces were altered to suit the couple. The suite was printed on a lovely textured stock using colour swatches 'jade,' 'scarlet + 'charcoal' from our colour chart. Kate + Adrian decided against using the ribbon embellishment as they were going for a more simplistic look and feel. We printed double-sided invitation cards, single-sided rsvp cards personalised with guest names, custom-designed bus timetables, table seating chart, tri-fold table signage, tent-folded personalised place cards, ceremony reading cards, A3 signage and personalised playing cards.

"It was an absolute pleasure to work with you Jackie. You were attentive, tolerant and delightful. I would definitely choose professional stationery again - it's so much better than anything we could do ourselves. Our wedding stationery was fun and relaxed which was exactly how we wanted our wedding to be."

About the Avner Nahmani Pancreatic Cancer Foundation
Kate explains, "The statistics for pancreatic cancer are frightening and therefore seemingly placed in the 'too hard basket'. Many people have never heard of pancreatic cancer. The recent passing of Steve Jobs has brought a lot of media attention to the disease which will hopefully increase education and spending in this area."

The Avner Nahmani Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund was established by the late Avner Nahmani and his wife Caroline. The fund is an extraordinary legacy for all future sufferers of this lethal cancer. It was Avner's aim through the Fund to raise awareness and funds that will assist in improving outcomes for patients. To achieve these aims more research into pancreatic cancer is desperately needed – around 2,000 Australian are diagnosed and die each year with fewer than 5% surviving more than 5 years – a survival rate that hasn't improved in over 40 years. The objective of the fund is to raise funds for support services, fund research and to build awareness of this disease.

Happy Friday to you all! I'm particularly excited today because I'm heading off for a much-needed weekend away and who better to spend it with (aside from my darling E) than my two of my best gal pals! We're heading off on a little road trip down to Mt Tambourine to have a long weekend filled with lots of delicious ~~food~~ cheese and fudge (hello extra kilos!), a little wine and a whole lot of relaxing. I hope you all have an amazing weekend, whatever your plans may be. All or Nothing

I'm an all or nothing kinda gal. For the most part, this is the reasoning behind my absence over the past few months. I don't do things by halves and I'm not about to write a lazy, hap-hazard post for the sake of it. So in turn, my poor little blog has been in hibernation. Working full time and running my own business certainly has its challenges. I've been working like a little machine over the past few months, designing for our lovely clients and our new range, organising the photoshoot and preparing all of the content and imagery for our new designs on the website. On top of all of this, I decided to make a few changes to the existing content on the site, which has been quite the task. Simultaneously scheduling my new stationery pieces, and a mini website overhaul - I must have gone slightly mad, but with such a lovely new range to introduce, I felt my website needed to step up to the plate. So dear friends, I'm happy to announce that our new designs have FINALLY launched on our all new and improved website and now that I have a moment to breathe and can sit still for long enough, I'm preparing some swoon-worthy new content for this here blog very soon...

Real Wedding :: Amy + Mike

Hope you are having a wonderful week lovelies! Today I'm really excited to share the wedding of Amy + Mike with you. I am constantly inspired by all things weddings - those special details and personal touches that shape the most important of days. It is our aim to bring you some of the most stunning weddings we have had the pleasure of being a part of.

So without further ado, meet Amy + Michael...

Amy + Michael :: Friday 8 April 2011
Bulimba, Brisbane, Queensland

Amy + Mike met at a company they both worked for, yet it wasn't until three years later when Amy left that Mike actually asked her on a date, after wanting to do so for months! Fast forward ten months in Central Park, New York, (where Mike had taken Amy for her birthday), Mike proposed. He had planned the proposal perfectly and even purchased a fake ring in the 'New York, New York' casino in Vegas earlier on so he didn't lose the real engagement ring {cute!}

We were absolutely thrilled to work with Amy + Mike and loved every step of designing their stationery suite. Amy and Mike chose our 'Hello Sailor' design, which we customised to achieve a beautiful wedding stationery suite that was absolutely unique to the couple. Amy and Mike chose a gorgeous custom shade of blue to pair with our 'navy' colour swatch from our colour chart, which was then printed on our ice silver metallic stock. Their stationery choice could not have suited their day any better - the couple chose to have their reception at Brett's Wharf, Hamilton, overlooking the beautiful Brisbane river.

Theme :: Amy and Mike's theme was "classic elegance with a twist of fun." Amy adores stripes, so it was only natural for her to incorporate them in the wedding.

Ceremony Location :: Saints Peter & Paul's Church, Bulimba, Brisbane. Amy and Mike were married by Father John Sullivan who knew Mike's grandparents and had married other members of the family.

Reception Venue :: Brett's Wharf, Hamilton, Brisbane.

Wedding & Bridesmaids Gowns :: Amy wore Leonard Derecourt who worked closely with Amy to design her gown, incorporating elements of three designs that she liked. The bridesmaids also wore Leonard Derecourt - Amy was "very keen on having the four girls in the same colour" however each gown was made to suit each girls style, shape and personality, tied in with matching shoes. We also loved that Amy carried this through with her bridemaids hair - each girl wore a slightly different style, bringing the look together with a custom hair piece, made from the same fabric as Amy's gown.

Groom & Groomsmen Attire :: Mike and his groomsmen wore dark charcoal suits, hired from Tony Barlow Formal Hire. The striped ties were purchased from Trent Nathan and the crisp white shirts were from Shirt Studio. The boys finished their look with brown dress shoes.

Photographer :: Amy and Mike chose Brisbane photographer Nat McComas for her "relaxed style" and added that Nat was "fabulous to work with on the day." Amy and Mike also had an engagement shoot with Nat earlier in the year and were really impressed with the outcome.

Florist :: Amy and her bridesmaids flowers were an arrangement of freesias, lissianthus, white and cream roses, by Pink + Purple Petals. We especially love the thick striped ribbon Amy sourced from Vandoros Fine Packaging to tie on each of her bridemaid's bouquets (also used on their ceremony programs).

Other recommended suppliers :: Amy and Mike's half mud/half white chocolate cake was made by the fabulous Gina from Cakes Actually. I especially love this element of Amy + Mike's day - the cake is simple, much like the rest of their styling. I just adore the subtle rope detailing around each layer {a nod to the design element on their stationery} and the use of stripes once again to finish. Amy's makeup artist, Donna Sullivan, is also highly recommended. The proof is in the picture - Amy and the girls look absolutely divine!

Tips and advice for other brides :: Amy has the following advice for brides to be:
1. Don't panic about the weather - the rain will always clear.
2. Relax and try and take in as much of the day as you can.
3. Try and put your own personal touch on as many aspects as possible. It makes it feel just that little bit more special.
4. Buy two pairs of shoes - one pair of heels for the start of the day and one of pair of flats for the dance floor.
5. You can never have too many candles.

Most treasured moment of the day :: "Definitely seeing each other in the church for the first time." The couple mentions spending time with the bridal party on a friends boat in between the ceremony and reception was a highlight and an opportunity they simply couldn't pass up! It provided a fun environment to get some more photos and for the couple to have a chance to relax, even with the all the attention from passing citycats and people waving from office buildings!

Creative/Personal Touches:: Amy and Mike asked a friend to sing at the ceremony - 'To Have You' by The Sundance Kids - a song the couple loved from the moment they heard it. Although Amy never had the chance to meet her, Mike gave Amy his late grandmother's ring to wear on the day, whom he was very close to. Amy and Mike decided to recreate 'Alto Crush' cocktails for their guests to enjoy with their canapes at the reception - a cocktail the couple shared on their very first date. Deciding against a photobooth, the couple decided to have a 'photowall,' shot by Nat McComas, where guests could choose from a variety of props to use in their photo (Nat stayed to cover Amy + Mike's reception). This is another one of my favourite elements - I just love that bold black and white backdrop that the couple sourced from Covered Linen (who also supplied those gorgeous striped table runners). Lastly, Amy had custom cufflinks made for Mike, with their initials {M+A} and the date of their wedding {8.4.11}. Amy also had them made for her father and father-in-law, complete with their initials.

Hello all! I hope you are having a lovely start to the week. We were absolutely thrilled to receive an email from one of our delightful couples, telling us how happy they were with their wedding invitations and stationery that they had just received. Megan and Andrew, both photographers (you can view their amazing work here) sent us these gorgeous photos...

Megan and Andrew chose our 'Isn't She Wonderful' suite of stationery for their invitations, rsvp cards and wishing well cards, in our 'lime' colour swatch from our colour chart. The more we looked at the printed result, the more we fell in love with the colour - it's so fresh and vibrant and we're really excited to see how Megan and Andrew incorporate it into their wedding. We just love the little details Megan and Andrew have added, like the envelope seals for example and we simply adore the cute bird dish favours (I'm told a sweet little treat will sit on the bird) - I can't wait to see photos of the day!

Why hello...

I must apologise, I've been a little absent of late. I was quite shocked to see that my last post was a month (almost to the day!) ago. Between our wedding stationery giveaway, designing our new 2011/12 collection, producing some gorgeous stationery for our lovely clients, birthdays-a-plenty (including my own, and the very first birthday of WITHLOVE), Mother's Day, designing some gorgeous little announcements for a new baby nephew, and just general craziness, I've barely had a moment to stop. Unfortunately this means that my poor little blog has been left out in the cold.

Boy-oh-boy do I have lots to share with you all over the next few weeks. For now though, I'll leave you with this pretty little birthday present that I received...

Be Inspired :: Happy Crafting!

Hi lovelies, hope you have had a glorious week! We've been super busy over the last few weeks with a couple of weddings around the corner, so I decided to spend part of last weekend (which now is a distant memory!) getting my craft on to create this paper bunting - it was quite therapeutic!

I like bunting of all kinds, especially of the paper kind, so I thought I'd show you how to create your very own.

You will need:

- A sheet of patterned or plain card. For the purpose of this example, we used an A3 sheet - this particular card we had printed for use in our collection shoot for our invitation suite, 'We Do' - we love to recycle!

- A pencil (or if using a darker piece of card, a pen might work better)

- Scissors

- A long ruler (our ruler is 40cm)

- A paper guillotine. If you don't have one, I recommend purchasing one - you will find yourself using it all the time! I got mine from Officeworks for around $50.00. Alternatively you can use a very sharp stanley knife on a cutting mat, and a steady hand, or scissors if you're pretty accurate!

- Wooden letters - I picked mine up from Spotlight for a tiny 99c each

- Ribbon or twine (roughly 3mm wide), closely matching the colour of your card - the idea is to use a sympathetic colour, so not to take away from the sweet message on your bunting

- Hole punch

- Fast drying craft glue

- About 1hr of your time!

Our triangles are 85mm at the widest point and are 100mm from base to tip. You can choose to make them any size you wish but for the purposes of this exercise these are our measurements.

Step 1 ::
Measure your widths (85mm) across the top of your piece of card, marking each width with a small dot.

Step 2 ::
Measure the length (100mm) down either side of the card.

Step 3 ::
Draw a line across your sheet of paper to connect the 100mm lengths.

Step 4 ::
On this line, measure in half the width of your first triangle (42.5mm) and mark with a dot.

Step 5 ::
Mark dots 85mm apart again until you reach the end of the sheet.

Step 6 ::
Connect the dots from the top of your card to the dots marked across the line. Depending on how many triangles you need, repeat steps 1-6 down the card.

Step 7 ::
Use the guillotine to cut along along the lines. If using a stanley knife, use the lines on your cutting mat as a guide to cut the lines nice and straight.

Step 8 ::
Punch your holes in the top corner of the widest points close to the edge. I didn't measure these, but you can if you want to, it's completely up to you.

Step 9 ::
Glue each letter on to each triangle (ensuring your pencil or pen marks are at the back if you haven't cut your lines 100% accurately) and let dry according to the instructions on your glue. I'm a little impatient with crafts so I bought the fastest drying glue I could get my hands on... haha! We left our letters in their natural state to give a kraft paper look, but you can paint yours if you wish.

Step 10 ::
Cut a length of ribbon or twine (as a guide, we used approximately 80cm for 5 triangles) and feed it from the back of your first triangle, remembering to pull enough through to be able to tie to whatever your decide to hang it on. You will then need to tie a knot so it doesn't slip back through the hole. We tied a double knot on ours so the ribbon would stay in place. Take the other end of the ribbon and pull across the back of the triangle and feed it through the next hole.

Step 11 ::
Get your second triangle and feed the ribbon through the hole at the front and across the back again and repeat the process. Don't be too worried about the spacing between each triangle for the moment, we will adjust this in the next step.Your bunting should look something like this.

Step 12 ::
Space your triangles evenly along the bunting, leaving about half a cm between each one. Tie a knot at the end of your last triangle, as per the other end and cut the ribbon so it's the same length as the ribbon on the opposite side. Voila - you're done!

Use this as a decoration at your ceremony or reception or as a prop in some of your wedding photographs. Make any size that you like, use any words you like - be creative! We think they would be a super sweet idea for your chairs at the reception - 'bride' and 'groom'!

One of my favourite US websites, Anthropologie, have launched a wedding line - gowns, dresses, shoes, hairpieces and more. You simply must pop on over and take a look. One of my favourite photographers, the extreme talent that is Elizabeth Messina, captures the most amazing images and while browsing her blog (which I could get lost in for days mind you), I came across this one... such a wonderful idea to use on your thank you cards, no?

I stumbled across this absolutely swoon-worthy image here - I'm sure that you'll agree that aside from the lovely subject, the colours are simply divine.

The Aftermath...

I've been a bit quiet over the last week, losing motivation to post after the traumatic events that have occurred here in our hometown of Brisbane. While we have been lucky enough to escape the damages inflicted on so many families and businesses, we have felt somewhat guilty to carry on as normal. Our deepest heart-felt wishes go out to not only the Brisbane community, but people throughout the country, who have endured such incredible loss and heartache in the wake of the floods - you are in our thoughts and we pray that you have the love and support you need to get through this extremely trying time and the strength to begin to rebuild and overcome what this extreme weather has left behind.

Funds raised as part of the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal have reached $64,329,927 and due an overwhelming response to calls for help, clean-up volunteers in Brisbane were turned away yesterday. The way the community has come together to show support for one another, in such devastating circumstances is truly remarkable.

If you haven't already done so, please consider donating to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal here, or you can donate in person at most major banks, Coles Supermarkets and Australia Post.

These gorgeous Studio 120 peep-toe pumps by designer Christian Louboutin, normally recognisable by their trademark red sole, were painted by the bride for her wedding day... and the result is simply beautiful!

2010 has been a big year for WITHLOVE, (having only launched in late April) and we are truly grateful for the kind words and support you have given us along the way. We are so glad to have been able to share this past (almost!) year with you. Choosing the correct photographer is the most important decision you will make for your wedding day - I might be biased, but you better hear me out... :-).

You want someone who will add to your day, not detract from it. Remember that you will be spending the whole day with this near stranger, so it's important to feel comfortable with them. The images you receive will last longer than anything else from your wedding day, including your memory - your photos will be how you remember your day forever. Not a bad thing to get right!

As a commercial graphic designer, wedding invitation and stationery designer and owner of With Love - Fine Wedding Stationery, I am a lover of quality design, beautiful typography and thick, lush paper stocks.
